Our Mission, Work & Life

Our Stories

We are missionaries Jim & Claudia Jung.  We have been serving with Mission to the World (MTW) in Sydney, Australia since 2006.  MTW is the missions agency of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).  Jim is also the pastor of Harbour City Church.

Jim grew up in Southern California, and worked for several years in the finance industry while ministering at church and university campuses.  He later received his graduate degree from Westminster Seminary California and was ordained as a minister with the PCA.

Claudia grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil, then moved to the U.S. as a teen and soon after committed her life to Christ at a youth conference.  She is a teacher by training, and her gift and passion is ministering to children and families.

Jim and Claudia met at church and married in 1998, and Eleanor is their daughter.  In 2006 they were commissioned to Sydney, Australia, where they are now in the thick of urban church-planting, university ministry, and outreach to the city professionals.

“What do you do?” and “Why Australia?” are the two most common questions we hear.

We’ll start with the SHORT answer first.

We are on a mission [Matt.28:19-20] to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by engaging a strategic global city with great new diversity for reaching the world for Christ [Rev.7:9], particularly the Asia-Pacific.  Sydney, Australia, is such a city; and we engage in missions through church planting, university ministries and city workers outreach; as well as assisting and encouraging local and national partners.

Beyond Sydney, Australia, where we are based, Jim is also tasked as the Regional Director with the oversight of MTW mission in Australasia, which includes several teams and projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific island nations.  The newest work involves Aboriginal mission and Island to Island (I2I).
